We recently witnessed the first (and possibly last) presidential debate of the 2024 election season. It was a massacre. President Biden not only did worse than anyone expected, President Trump handled Biden and the moderators almost perfectly.
Biden stumbled, mumbled, and stared blankly, and with an open mouth, into space. He misquoted numbers. He said he beat Medicare. He said that many women are raped by their in-laws, spouses, and brothers and sisters. What? Then he went on to challenge President Trump on the golf course.
President Trump was in control and articulate. He didn’t fall for Biden’s taunts. He beat President Biden on the abortion question, bringing up his unpopular position on late-term abortions. He told Biden that “he beat Medicare into the ground”.
The press is in panic mode, screaming for Biden to resign after covering for him two weeks ago or pushing some of the most ridiculous narratives to carry water for the President. The factions in the Democratic Party are more clear than ever, as Joe looks like he’s (or Jill is making him) dig his heels in and stand his ground.
Looking at the electoral college, however, there’s not any good options for the Dems to try and get another candidate on the ballot, especially in some important swing states. Dates are passed or coming up soon.
We’re not in uncharted territory, as we recall the Wilson and FDR presidencies, abitious wives, and sick presidents in hiding. Kamala is rumored to be looking for her opportunity, but may not have a clear path to remove the President.
We also make our guesses on Trump’s VP pick. Who do you think it is?
